CULTure: Pop Art in Fashion
“In terms of fashion design, Warhol’s work is continually translated into the creations of designers today, a fitting homage to the legacy of a man who famously once said; “Fashion, wasn’t what you wore someplace anymore. It was the whole reason for going.” Designers have always looked to Warhol for inspiration, be it his shambolic sense of personal style to which the grunge movement harkens back, or his art itself. Gianni Versace in the Nineties featured Warhol’s Marilyn print on dresses and legendary punk designer Stephen Sprouse (who was a member of Warhol’s inner court) made regular use of Warhol’s iconic prints in his collections. As these two greats of fashion design and their ilk inspire the rising young designers of today, so does Andy Warhol’s influence live on.”

CULT Fashion: Katie Eary SS14 LCM
“In the unassuming, life loving Katie Eary, who’s joyous end of show appearances are almost as good as her shows, British fashion may just have found it’s very own answer to Gianni Versace. Eary is on point season after season, delivering collections of explosive colour that thrill even those of us who have a natural… ”

CULT Fashion Ada + Nik SS14 LCM
"Aside from being two of the nicest folk on the London fashion circuit, designer Ada Zanditon and brand strategistNik Thakkar proved themselves to be two of the most talented this LCM with the debut of their new menswear line Ada X Nik. Flying in the face of convention, Ada X Nik is the most refreshing new menswear line to emerge in recent years. Darkly erotic, ultra masculine clothing for the man who is unafraid to flaunt his sexuality, the man who also revels in androgyny and provocation, this slick collection of Greco Roman inspired clothing is everything London fashion should be; creative, forward thinking, polished and individualistic, Ada X Nik pushes the boundaries of conventionalism and revels in throwing down the gauntlet to the conspicuous’dandy’….”
CULT Fashion: Hood by Air SS14 LCM
( by @IanisNYLO C. Ian Michael Turner)
”Hood By Air, adored of New York City’s downtown elite, A$AP Rocky, and critically praised by everybody from the New York Times to Vogue, is a streetwear label that has been on our radar since its debut collection, so it was with much anticipation we attended the London unveiling of the Hood By Air and Been Trill collaboration at Selfridges. Fittingly held in the underground car park of the mega department store, the brand showed not only pieces from the HBA X Been Trill line, but also the forthcoming collaboration with British heritage knitwear brand Corgi, to hit stores in October, in a skate park meets underground nightclub setting that drew the hippest crowds seen from amongst London’s trendsetters, alongside 90210′s Shenae Grimes and Brooke Candy….”

CULT Fashion: KTZ SS14 London Collections: Men
"Son of a Witch, but Harry Potter this was not. KTZ, ever marching perfectly in line to the beat of their own drum, showcased for SS14 a stellar collection of garments that pulls together an eccentric array of historical and pop cultural inspiration points. It drew heavily from pagan ritual wear which was melded seamlessly to the traditional loose flowing garb of nomadic desert dwelling cultures, and Medieval and fantastical warrior armor, resulting in an urban sci-fi Arabian Knights uniform for the gent who is much more inclined to the adventurous and mysterious…”

CULT Fashion: Fear of God Los Angeles
Los Angeles, City of Angels and former fashion wasteland is now one of the industries most buzzed about cities with a rash of labels and designers bringing the word ‘style’ back to the West Coast. Joining established celebrity favourites such as Skingraft and Kill City, is Fear of God Los Angeles, a brand who like the aforementioned, specialise in that urban dystopian ‘street or neo Goth’ look that is becoming synonymous with Angelino style in the 21st Century. Somewhat incongruously given their own 90’s style origins, it is the world and stars of hip hop who have taken this look as their own. Fear of God, who have been spotted on the likes of Chris Brown, Kanye West and style icon of the moment A$AP Rocky, create fashion forward clothing that retains that laissez faire look of your typical LA surfers, skaters and burnt outs, updated through fashion forward design and a grunge aesthetic.
